Yongsan Seminary

Yesterday, the Confraternitas Liturgiae Traditio Latina was able to organise another celebration of the Latin Mass.  This time, it was held at Sacred Heart Girls’ High School.   The building was formerly the Catholic seminary for the Archdiocese of Seoul.  Once again, Father Sohn was able to come up from Daegu to offer Mass in the old rite.

This was the main seminary until newer and larger facilities were built.  The seminary today is attached to the Catholic University of Korea in Seoul.  When the Sungshin Seminary was built, this school was given to the care of the Society of the Sacred Heart, a French order of teaching sisters founded by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat.  Since that time, the sisters have continued to lovingly care for the grounds and buildings.

Here is the chapel proper.

There is a very nice statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the grounds as well.

The chapel itself is a veritable jewel of a church.  It isn’t very large.  But it certainly is beautiful.

  1. I like the statue of Mary & Jesus too.

  2. […] Interestingly, the Confraternity of Traditional Latin Liturgy recently held a Latin mass in the chapel — rbbadger of News from Wabu-eup took a couple of pictures. […]
