Official at Yureung

I’ve written before of the Joseon Royal Tombs here in my city of Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.  They definitely are worth a visit.  At Hongneung and Yureung, you will find the tombs of the Emperor Gojong and the Emperor Sunjong.  As these are the tombs of emperors, they were modelled off of the Ming tombs, albeit on a smaller scale.  As a reminder, here is the tomb of Emperor Sunjong, last monarch of Korea.

Here is one photo which didn’t make it in the first set.  Lining the pathway to the tomb are sculptures of animals, civil, and military officials.  Here is a civil official at Yureung.
