Creative taxation

America’s War on Drugs has taken quite a few strange twists over the years.  One of these is in the realm of taxation.  Some states have actually passed laws requiring the purchase of revenue stamps for substances you aren’t even allowed to possess.  This is an added weapon in the already vast arsenal prosecutors now have in their war against drugs.

So, in Nebraska, Kansas, and quite a few other states, if you are a drug dealer and you get busted for dealing drugs, you can also be busted for not buying the special revenue stamps.  The respected British magazine The Economist finds it all terribly strange.
