Jongno Tower

This post is for the edification of my brother-in-law, Jeremy.  He has long been interested in architecture.  I am also a fan of architecture, though I’ve not had the desire to practice as an architect.

Near Insa-dong, one of Korea’s more traditional neighbourhoods is this piece of cutting edge architecture.  It was completed by Rafael Viñoly Architects of New York.  Mr. Viñoly is a native of Montevideo, Uruguay.

Here is the back view of the tower.

And here is the front.

There are elevators along the sides.  These elevators lead to an expensive restaurant on the top floor.  The building really stands out, given that there aren’t many tall buildings in the vicinity.
