Papal Altar

In 1984, Pope John Paul II came to Korea.  In a first for the Catholic Church, he canonized the Korean martyrs as saints.  It was the first canonization done outside of the city of Rome and certainly the first ever done in Asia.  The altar is simply huge.  There probably isn’t a church large enough in the country to use it, as it would totally dominate just about everything in the sanctuary.  It still is nice, though.
