The Queen takes the train

Queen Elizabeth II, in her role as Head of State, has quite a few royal priveleges, one of which is the royal train.  During the Christmas holidays, she and her family spend time together at the royal estate of Sandringham near King’s Lynn, Norfolk.  Rolling out the royal train is a costly affair, costing about £57,142 each time it is rolled out.  This time, the Queen decided to take the train from London’s King’s Cross station to King’s Lynn, trying insofar as it is possible, to be an ordinary passenger.

Needless to say, it was a very big surprise for a number of passengers.

  1. Grandma Peterson would have loved this! She and the Queen are the same age. 🙂
