How Mussolini got his start

As more and more documents get declassified, it is very interesting to note the sometimes shady characters our government and other Western governments have supported. 

New documentation has emerged which shows that Benito Mussolini, former Prime Minister of Italy and de facto dictator, got his start from a very unlikely place.  MI5, the counter-intelligence and security agency of Her Majesty’s Government in the UK, supported Mussolini early on.  During World War I, Mussolini was working as a journalist in Rome.  He was paid some £100 a week (the equivalent of £6000 today) by MI5 to keep up the pro-war propaganda, as Italy’s support for the war was flagging.
