Jongno Tower

Close to Insa-dong, a nice neighbourhood with antique shops and the like, there is this large building.  It was sort of controversial when it was built, as this is a part of the city which is largely free of skyscrapers and the ever-present apartment buildings.  It doesn’t really fit the neighbourhood, but it is definitely a Seoul landmark.

It was designed by the Uruguayan-born architect Rafael Viñoly and opened in 1999.
