Hymn playing

Playing hymns is definitely a skill.   It has been perfected in England, especially in the cathedrals and collegiate churches belonging to the Church of England.  In San Antonio, TX, there exists a parish made up largely of former Episcopalians who were received into the Roman Catholic Church.  The parish seems to have maintained the marvelous English choral tradition tht quite a few Episcopal parishes have or had at one time.  Hymns are by nature simple pieces of music.  But a talented organist can do wonderful things with them.  Here is “Praise My Soul the King of Heaven”.
