King Sejong the Great

This photo is of the statue of King Sejong the Great at Deoksu Palace near City Hall in Seoul.  The second photo features the Korean alphabet as it was originally designed by King Sejong.  A few of the letters are no longer even used anymore such as the triangular shaped letter.   There are only two kings who bear the designation of 대왕 or “great king”, namely King Sejong and King Gwanggaeto of the Goryeo (Koryo) Kingdom (37BC-668AD).
