The Novena Church

St. Alphonsus’ Catholic Church, otherwise known as the Novena Church, being the location of the perpetual novena in honour of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, is a unique church in the downtown area of Singapore.

Located on Thompson Road near Novena Station, it has a large number of Masses throughout the day and many visitors.  On both sides of the church, there is a covered veranda which mercifully has fans.  Actually, it is more comfortable there than in the actual church.  It is the under the care of the Redemptorist Fathers.

On the grounds of Good Shepherd Cathedral in Singapore, there is a beautiful statue of John Paul II that I quite like.  It commemorates the visit of Pope John Paul II to Singapore as well as the anniversary of diplomatic relations with the Holy See.
